Facial cosmetic surgery corrects the signs of ageing (a sagging jawline, descended cheeks, drooping eyebrows, heavy eyelids) and features that bother you (nose, chin, ears, cheeks). Dr Victor Médard de Chardon performs eight procedures, from buccal fat removal (30 minutes) to the face and neck lift (2 to 4 hours), at Clinique Oxford in Cannes, as day surgery or with one night’s stay. Social downtime ranges from 0 to 21 days depending on the procedure.
Prices: €1,500 to €15,000 depending on the procedure, on a written quote after a consultation (€100).

Surgery or aesthetic medicine?
Surgery gives a lasting correction: the result of a face and neck lift lasts 4 to 12 years, that of a blepharoplasty generally more than 10 years, and a rhinoplasty is permanent. Injections correct without an incision or social downtime, but their effect is temporary: 8 to 24 months for hyaluronic acid, 2 to 6 months for Botox. The two are often combined, for example a facelift then maintained with Botox. See aesthetic medicine.
Can several procedures be combined?
Yes, under the same anaesthetic when possible:
- rhinoplasty and genioplasty (or a chin implant): profileplasty, which restores the balance of the profile between the nose, chin and forehead;
- temporal lift and filling of the temples by micro-fat grafting;
- face and neck lift and blepharoplasty;
- facelift and fat grafting, to tighten and restore volume at the same time.
How does face surgery take place?

Frequently asked questions
How much does facial cosmetic surgery cost?
From €1,500 (buccal fat removal, fat grafting) to €15,000 (face and neck lift with additional procedures). The price is set on a written quote after the consultation, which is charged at €100.
Can face surgery be reimbursed?
Cosmetic surgery is not covered. The functional part of a rhinoplasty (deviated septum, turbinates, nasal valves) may be covered by the Assurance Maladie and the mutuelle (top-up health insurance), with prior approval.
How long before I can be seen in public after face surgery?
0 to 7 days after fat grafting or buccal fat removal, about 10 days after a rhinoplasty, 15 to 21 days after a face and neck lift or a midface lift.
From what age can face surgery be done?
Otoplasty can be performed from the age of 6, when the child wishes it. Rhinoplasty is possible from 16, genioplasty from 18.
Are the results of face surgery permanent?
Rhinoplasty, genioplasty and otoplasty give a permanent result. A face and neck lift lasts 4 to 12 years, a blepharoplasty generally more than 10 years; the face then continues to age from that result.
Can several facial procedures be done at the same time?
Yes, when possible: for example, rhinoplasty and genioplasty (profileplasty), or a temporal lift and filling of the temples. The plan is decided at consultation.
Where do the consultation and the face surgery take place?
Consultations take place at the practice, 101 rue d’Antibes, Cannes, Monday to Friday. Operations take place at Clinique Oxford in Cannes.
Surgery or injections for the face: how do I choose?
Surgery provides a lasting correction of laxity or shape; injections correct a loss of volume or a wrinkle for 2 to 24 months, without social downtime. Dr Médard de Chardon practises both and will advise you at consultation.
