Hyacorp is a highly cross-linked hyaluronic acid gel designed for the body. Injected by cannula, it restores volume to the buttocks, calves or pectorals, with no implant and no visible scar. It is a last-resort solution, for patients who are too slim for fat transfer (lipofilling) and who do not want implants. The injection takes 30 to 45 minutes in the operating theatre at Clinique Oxford, under local anaesthesia with sedation, as day surgery. The result is immediate and natural; the gel is absorbed slowly, over 12 to 18 months.

Price: €4,000 to €10,000 depending on the area and volume, on a written quote after consultation (€100).

Who is it for?

Hyacorp injection is for women and men who wish to enlarge:

  • the buttocks, if flat or sagging;
  • the calves, if thin or underdeveloped;
  • the pectorals, for volume and definition;
  • or to fill a pectus excavatum (hollow in the breastbone).

It is offered only as a last resort: when there is not enough fat for fat transfer, or when the patient does not want implants (a foreign body).

Hyacorp is not suitable for breast enlargement: the only validated techniques are breast implants and breast fat transfer (lipofilling).

ChoiceAs a last resortFirst choice, if there is enough fatLong-lasting alternative

Fat transfer is always offered first when there is enough fat available; implants are a long-lasting alternative (12 to 15 years); Hyacorp has the advantage of always being possible, even in very slim patients, and of being absorbable.

What is Hyacorp?

An injectable hyaluronic acid gel, highly cross-linked and highly volumising, CE-marked as an implantable medical device. It is absorbable, which makes it safer, but slowly: over 12 to 18 months. There is currently no reliable non-absorbable filler, apart from the patient’s own fat (lipostructure).

How is the injection given?

The gel is injected with fine blunt-tipped cannulas, which cause little trauma, through very small incisions: there are no stitches to remove and the scars are only a few millimetres long. For maximum safety, the injection is carried out in the operating theatre, in a sterile environment, by a plastic surgeon.

How does a Hyacorp injection take place?

  1. ConsultationAt the practice, 101 rue d’Antibes, Cannes (€100): examination of the area, choice between fat transfer, implants or Hyacorp, estimate of the volume, written quote. Statutory 15-day cooling-off period.
  2. Anaesthetic consultationWith an anaesthetist (anaesthesia and intensive care physician).
  3. InjectionIn the operating theatre at Clinique Oxford in Cannes, in a sterile environment, under local anaesthesia with sedation, lasting 30 to 45 minutes; a stay of a few hours.
  4. Follow-up and maintenanceFollow-up visits after the injection, then maintenance every 12 to 18 months.

What is the recovery like?

  • Pain: very little or none.
  • Return to activities: from the next day to a few days.
  • Compression: 0 to 2 weeks; sport after 3 weeks.
  • Scars of a few millimetres; no stitches to remove.

How long does the result last?

Hyacorp is not permanent: the result lasts 12 to 18 months. To maintain it, a new injection is given every 12 to 18 months, with less product: 25 to 50% of the initial volume. Being absorbable is both a limitation, compared with permanent fat transfer, and a safety feature.

What are the risks?

The most common side effects are bruising, swelling and temporary discomfort. More rarely: nodules or irregularities, displacement of the gel, infection, delayed inflammatory reaction. If necessary, the hyaluronic acid can be dissolved with hyaluronidase.

Contraindications: pregnancy and breastfeeding, an active infection, certain autoimmune diseases.

Choosing a qualified, experienced and reputable surgeon reduces these risks, and can even eliminate some of them.
