PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is prepared from a small sample of your blood: after centrifugation, the platelet-concentrated plasma is injected into the skin or scalp. The growth factors it contains stimulate collagen production and tissue regeneration. It can improve skin quality, dark circles under the eyes and early hair loss. As it is made from your own blood, it does not cause allergies. The session lasts 30 to 45 minutes at the Cannes practice, with no social downtime; the result is gradual, after a series of sessions.

Price: €300 per session; free consultation.

Who is it for?

PRP is for women and men who want to:

  • revitalise the skin of the face, neck, décolleté or hands: dull complexion, thin skin, fine lines;
  • reduce pigmented dark circles or thin skin under the eyes;
  • slow early hair loss of hormonal origin (androgenetic alopecia), in women as well as men;
  • improve acne scars, combined with microneedling.

PRP does not create volume: for a hollow or a marked wrinkle, hyaluronic acid fillers are more suitable.

How does PRP work?

Blood platelets contain growth factors, which play a natural role in healing. Concentrated and then injected into the skin, they activate fibroblasts, the cells that make collagen and elastin, and promote microcirculation. On the scalp, they stimulate weakened hair follicles.

What are the risks?

As PRP is prepared from your own blood, there is no risk of allergy or rejection. The side effects are mainly bruising, swelling and temporary tenderness; more rarely, an infection at the injection site. Results vary from one person to another.

Contraindications: platelet or clotting disorders, anticoagulant treatment, anaemia, active infection or cancer, pregnancy and breastfeeding; anti-inflammatory medicines should be stopped a few days before the session.

Choosing a qualified, experienced and reputable surgeon reduces these risks, and can even eliminate some of them.
