Non-surgical rhinoplasty uses hyaluronic acid filler to correct small imperfections of the nose: a small bump, a hollow, slight asymmetry, a slightly drooping tip. It is carried out at the practice in Cannes, in 15 minutes, under anaesthetic cream, with no social downtime: only slight swelling (oedema) remains for 48 hours. The result is immediate and lasts 8 to 12 months. It does not make a nose smaller and does not replace surgical rhinoplasty.

Price: from €350; the consultation before the injection is free.

Which imperfections of the nose can be corrected?

The injection can be given on a “primary” nose that has never been operated on, or on a “secondary” nose that has already been operated on (from 1 month after surgery). It works on:

  • the bridge of the nose (nasal dorsum): hollows, a small bump softened, an inverted-V appearance, the lines of the bridge redefined;
  • the tip: slight asymmetry, an upturned tip, the definition of the tip (above and below the tip);
  • the base of the columella, between the nose and the lip: moderate projection of the nose, an upturned tip;
  • the nostrils (alae): a nostril that collapses when breathing in, nostrils set too high brought down.

Non-surgical rhinoplasty adds volume: it cannot make a nose smaller. At the first consultation, Dr Médard de Chardon analyses your nose and tells you whether the correction can be made with filler or requires surgery. An imperfection after a first rhinoplasty may also call for a revision (secondary) rhinoplasty.

Which product is used?

In Dr Médard de Chardon’s view, hyaluronic acid is the best product for reshaping the nose:

  • it is a natural component of the skin;
  • the gel dedicated to the nose has a strong lifting capacity, which is necessary because the tissues of the nose are firm and tend to flatten the gel;
  • it is resorbable: if there is an imperfection or if you change your mind, hyaluronidase dissolves it immediately.

How is the injection carried out?

The gel is placed in small amounts, where correction is needed. A small bump is not removed: it is camouflaged by filling the hollow above and below it, which restores a straight bridge.

Before: small bump on the bridge of the nose.

Combined treatments

  • Botox softens the lines on the sides of the nose (“bunny lines”) and a tip that drops when you speak (depressor septi nasi muscle).
  • Non-surgical profileplasty combines, in the same session, non-surgical rhinoplasty with chin and lip filler, to harmonise the profile.

Is non-surgical rhinoplasty painful?

Not very: an anaesthetic cream is applied before the session, and the gel contains lidocaine.

How does a non-surgical rhinoplasty work?

  1. ConsultationFree before the injection, at the practice, 101 rue d’Antibes in Cannes: analysis of the nose from the front and in profile; Dr Médard de Chardon tells you whether the correction can be made with filler or with surgery.
  2. SessionAt the practice, in about 15 minutes, after the anaesthetic cream.
  3. Touch-upSometimes needed within the following month, free of charge if there is an imperfection.

What is the recovery like?

  • Immediate result.
  • Social life: immediate return to normal activities; slight swelling remains for 48 hours.
  • Duration of effect: 8 to 12 months; 2 to 6 months for any combined Botox.

What are the risks?

The most common side effects are temporary swelling, redness and small bruises. More rarely: small irregularities, asymmetry, an inflammatory reaction or infection. The nose is the area where blockage of a blood vessel by the gel is most feared: it can damage the skin of the nose and, in exceptional cases, affect vision. This is an emergency, treated by injecting hyaluronidase, which dissolves hyaluronic acid, combined with cortisone and aspirin. Hence the importance of a slow injection, in small amounts, by a doctor who knows the anatomy of the nose.

Contraindications: pregnancy and breastfeeding, an active skin infection in the area, certain autoimmune diseases.

Choosing a qualified, experienced and reputable surgeon reduces these risks, and can even eliminate some of them.

Frequently asked questions about non-surgical rhinoplasty

How long does the result of a non-surgical rhinoplasty last?

8 to 12 months. Hyaluronic acid is gradually absorbed; a new session maintains the result.

Can a bump on the nose be removed without surgery?

No, it can only be camouflaged. A small bump is softened by filling above and below it; a more pronounced bump calls for surgical rhinoplasty.

Can the tip of the nose be lifted with filler?

Yes, moderately, with an injection at the base of the columella, between the nose and the lip.

Can filler correct a flaw after a rhinoplasty?

Yes, from 1 month after the operation, for a small hollow or slight asymmetry. It does not replace a revision rhinoplasty.

Is non-surgical rhinoplasty dangerous?

It is safe when carried out by a doctor who knows the anatomy of the nose. The most feared risk, blockage of a blood vessel, is rare; it is treated as an emergency with hyaluronidase, combined with cortisone and aspirin.

Can a non-surgical rhinoplasty be reversed?

Yes. A result you are not happy with can be dissolved with hyaluronidase.
