With age, the backs of the hands lose volume: veins, tendons and bony contours become visible. Hyaluronic acid or Radiesse injections restore this volume at the practice in Cannes, using a cannula under local anaesthesia, with an immediate return to normal activities; micro-fat grafting (micro-lipostructure) does so permanently with your own fat, at Clinique Oxford. The result is immediate and lasts 12 to 18 months with hyaluronic acid or Radiesse. Mesotherapy and treatment of brown spots complete the rejuvenation.

Price: from €350 per syringe, at least one syringe per hand; micro-fat grafting from €1,500 to €4,000; the consultation before the injection is free.

Why do hands age?

Ageing of the hands is natural (age, the menopause) and made worse by sun, smoking, alcohol and pollution. It shows mainly on the backs of the hands:

  • the skin thins and lets the veins show through; it becomes crinkled, brown spots appear, then sometimes small spontaneous bruises (senile purpura);
  • the fat shrinks;
  • the muscles shrink too.

The hands therefore lose volume: veins, tendons and bony contours stand out. Yet the hands are just as exposed to view as the face.

Micro-fat grafting also reduces the visibility of veins; hyaluronic acid and Radiesse are resorbable.

How is the injection carried out?

The product is injected into the back of the hand, under the skin and into the spaces between the metacarpals (the bones of the palm), using a blunt-tipped cannula under local anaesthesia. See needle or cannula on the hyaluronic acid page.

Before: visible veins, tendons and hollows.

What about skin quality?

Mesotherapy injects free (non-cross-linked) hyaluronic acid, vitamins and trace elements into the skin. It does not create volume (free hyaluronic acid is absorbed within a few days), but it hydrates the skin and stimulates the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. It is a maintenance treatment, for ageing well; how often sessions are needed depends on the product.

And brown spots?

They are treated with pigment laser, TCA peel or cryotherapy (liquid nitrogen).

Is hand filler painful?

Not very: it is carried out under local anaesthesia, with a blunt-tipped cannula, through only a few entry points.

How does a hand filler treatment work?

  1. ConsultationFree before the injection, at the practice, 101 rue d’Antibes in Cannes: examination of the hands (volume, veins, skin, spots), choice between hyaluronic acid, Radiesse and micro-fat grafting, and of any combined treatments.
  2. SessionAt the practice, in about 15 minutes: local anaesthesia, injection with a cannula into the back of the hand, then massage to spread the product.
  3. Touch-upSometimes needed within the following month, free of charge if there is an imperfection.

What is the recovery like?

  • Immediate result.
  • Social life: immediate return to normal activities.
  • Slight swelling and bruising possible for a few days.
  • Duration of effect: 12 to 18 months with hyaluronic acid or Radiesse; permanent with micro-fat grafting.

What are the risks?

The most common side effects are temporary swelling and bruising. More rarely: small irregularities or nodules, an inflammatory reaction or infection. In exceptional cases, the product can block a blood vessel; hyaluronic acid can then be dissolved with hyaluronidase.

Contraindications: pregnancy and breastfeeding, an active skin infection in the area, certain autoimmune diseases.

Choosing a qualified, experienced and reputable surgeon reduces these risks, and can even eliminate some of them.

Frequently asked questions about hand filler

How long does hand filler last?

12 to 18 months with hyaluronic acid or Radiesse, which are resorbable. Micro-fat grafting gives a permanent result.

Will the veins on my hands be less visible after hand filler?

Yes: by restoring volume under the skin, the injection reduces the visibility of veins and tendons. Micro-fat grafting is particularly effective for this.

Hyaluronic acid or Radiesse for the hands?

Both restore volume to the backs of the hands, at the practice, with a cannula, for a comparable length of time. The choice is made at the consultation according to the thickness of the skin and the result you are looking for.

Can I return to my activities straight after hand filler?

Yes. You can resume your social life immediately; slight swelling or bruising may last a few days.

Can brown spots on the hands also be treated?

Yes, with pigment laser, TCA peel or cryotherapy, alone or combined with injections.

How much does hand filler cost in Cannes?

From €350 per syringe, with at least one syringe per hand; the exact number is set at the consultation. Micro-fat grafting costs €1,500 to €4,000. The consultation before the injection is free.
