Profhilo (IBSA laboratories) is a highly concentrated injectable hyaluronic acid that is not chemically cross-linked. Injected at 5 points on each side of the face, it spreads through the skin, hydrates it deeply and firms it: it treats thin skin and early laxity, without creating volume. The session lasts about 15 minutes at the practice in Cannes; small bumps remain visible for a few hours. The treatment consists of 2 sessions 6 weeks apart; the effect lasts about 6 months.

Who is it for?
Profhilo is for women and men who have:
- thin, dehydrated or dull skin;
- early skin laxity on the face or neck, most often from about the age of 35;
- fine lines and skin that has lost its suppleness, on the face, neck, décolleté or backs of the hands.
Profhilo does not create volume: for a hollow, hyaluronic acid filler is more suitable; for marked sagging, the non-surgical mini facelift or a facelift.
How does Profhilo work?
A 2 ml syringe contains 64 mg of hyaluronic acid, half of high molecular weight and half of low molecular weight. Both are stabilised by heat, without a chemical cross-linking agent. The product is very fluid: injected at a few points, it spreads through the skin without massage. It hydrates the skin deeply and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin by the skin cells; this is known as “bio-remodelling”.
Injection: a small deposit of very fluid product in the dermis (hence the small bump on the surface).

Which areas can be treated?
The face (5 points on each side, from the cheekbone to the angle of the jaw), the neck, the décolleté and the backs of the hands. Profhilo can be combined with a mesolift, PRP (platelet-rich plasma) or filler injections.

How does a Profhilo session work?
- ConsultationFree, at the practice, 101 rue d’Antibes in Cannes: examination of the skin, check for contraindications, choice of areas.
- PreparationSkin disinfection; an anaesthetic cream is possible.
- InjectionWith a fine needle, at 5 points on each side of the face; the product is not massaged, it spreads on its own. The session lasts about 15 minutes.
- Second session6 weeks later, then maintenance about every 6 months.
What is the recovery like?
- Injection points: small bumps visible for a few hours, up to 24 hours; passing redness; bruising possible.
- Social life: return to normal activities the same day; schedule the session well ahead of any event.
- Instructions: no make-up for 12 hours; no exercise, sauna or hammam for 24 to 48 hours.

What are the risks?
Side effects are most often mild and short-lived: redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness at the injection points. More rarely: infection, a small nodule or a delayed inflammatory reaction. Blockage of a blood vessel, a serious complication of hyaluronic acid injections, is exceptional with these small volumes.
Contraindications: infection or inflammation of the skin in the area, pregnancy and breastfeeding, active autoimmune disease, known allergy to hyaluronic acid; bruising is more common if you take anticoagulants.
Choosing a qualified, experienced and reputable surgeon reduces these risks, and can even eliminate some of them.
