The temporal lift raises the outer part of the eyebrow, smooths crow’s feet, treats laxity of the temple and opens up the eyes, without changing your features. The scar, 3 to 4 cm long, is hidden in the hair and closed with a continuous intradermal suture: no stitches are visible. The operation takes 1 hour, under general anaesthesia or local anaesthesia with sedation, as day surgery at Clinique Oxford in Cannes. Social downtime is 7 days; the final result is reached at 2 months and lasts 1 to 4 years, maintained with botulinum toxin.
Price: €3,000 to €5,000, on a written quote after a consultation (€100).
Who is it for?
The temporal lift is for women and men who, usually from the age of 40, have:
- a drooping tail of the eyebrow, which closes up the eyes;
- crow’s feet;
- laxity of the temple and the outer corner of the eye;
- a tired or sad look, even though the middle of the eyebrow is well positioned.
If the whole eyebrow is low, or if the forehead is lined, a brow lift is indicated; if the upper eyelid is heavy, a blepharoplasty.
Before: drooping tail of the eyebrow, crow’s feet. The arrows show the direction of the pull.

Which procedures is it combined with?
The temporal lift is rarely performed on its own. It is an add-on that harmonises the result of a blepharoplasty, a brow lift, a midface lift or a deep plane (face and neck) lift. See also the overview of all facelifts.

What are the risks?
Like any surgery, the temporal lift carries risks, which are rare and explained at consultation:
- haematoma;
- localised hair loss along the scar;
- temporary changes in sensation in the temple;
- asymmetry of the eyebrows;
- injury to the frontal branch of the facial nerve, exceptional and usually temporary.
Choosing a qualified, experienced and reputable surgeon reduces these risks, and can even eliminate some of them.
How long does the result last?
The result looks natural: the structures, in particular the tail of the eyebrow, return to the position they occupied a few years earlier. It lasts less long than a deep plane facelift, 1 to 4 years, and is maintained with botulinum toxin injections.

Frequently asked questions about the temporal lift
Does a temporal lift change your expression?
No. It returns the tail of the eyebrow to the position it occupied a few years earlier, without changing your features.
Is the temporal lift scar visible?
No. It is 3 to 4 cm long and lies within the hair; the suture is intradermal, with no visible stitches.
Can a temporal lift be done on its own?
It is possible, but it is most often combined with a blepharoplasty or another lift for a harmonious result.
How long does the result of a temporal lift last?
1 to 4 years. It is maintained with botulinum toxin injections.
Temporal lift or botulinum toxin: which should I choose?
Botulinum toxin smooths crow’s feet for 2 to 6 months, without surgery. The temporal lift repositions the tail of the eyebrow and the skin of the temple for the long term; it is then maintained with botulinum toxin.
How much does a temporal lift cost in Cannes?
The price is set on a written quote after the consultation (€100). It ranges from €3,000 to €5,000. A cosmetic facelift is not reimbursed by the Assurance Maladie or by mutuelles.
