2. What does the price include?
The quote for breast augmentation covers four items: the surgeon’s fees, for the procedure and the follow-up; the anaesthetist’s fees; the costs of the Clinique Oxford in Cannes (operating theatre, equipment, day surgery or a one-night stay); the implants.
Not included: medication for the recovery, blood tests, the anaesthetic consultation, the medical support bra, and the mammogram and ultrasound required before the procedure. Follow-up consultations are free.
3. What makes the price vary?
- The technique: implants, fat transfer or both. Fat transfer requires liposuction and takes longer (2 to 3 hours, compared with about 1 hour for implants).
- Additional procedures: lifting sagging breasts, correcting an asymmetry, fat transfer to conceal the edges of the implant.
- The brand and model of the implants, as well as the incision site (armpit, areola or the fold under the breast).
- The length of the procedure and of the anaesthesia.
- The hospital stay: day surgery or one night at the clinic.
4. What should you plan for over time?
The cost of breast augmentation does not stop at the procedure:
- monitoring: a clinical check-up and imaging every two years. The prescribed ultrasound and mammogram are reimbursed by the Assurance Maladie under the usual rules.
- implant replacement: implants last 12 to 15 years on average, but they are not replaced on a fixed date. A replacement, when needed (rupture, capsular contracture, a different size), costs €3,000 to €10,000. See breast implant replacement.
- the manufacturers’ warranty: in the event of rupture, most manufacturers replace the implant free of charge, sometimes for life, with a contribution to the cost of the surgery depending on the brand and the age of the implant.
- with fat transfer: there is no implant to monitor or replace, but the volume follows changes in weight, and a second session, costing €2,500 to €5,000, is sometimes offered to gain volume.
5. Is breast augmentation reimbursed?
Cosmetic breast augmentation is not, including after pregnancy or breastfeeding. However, the Assurance Maladie may cover the correction of a malformation, with prior approval:
- tuberous breasts: additional fees of €2,500 to €5,000 then remain to be paid;
- Poland syndrome: only the additional fees remain to be paid;
- breast reconstruction after cancer.
Dr Médard de Chardon sends the request to your health insurance fund with the photographs; the fund’s medical adviser may ask to see you and decides on cover. Dr Médard de Chardon practises in Sector 2 (fees above the national health insurance rate), not OPTAM-registered: your mutuelle (top-up health insurance) may reimburse part of the additional fees, depending on your policy.
6. The quote and the cooling-off period
After the consultation, you receive a detailed written quote: planned procedures, implants (brand, model, volume), the surgeon’s and anaesthetist’s fees, clinic costs and period of validity. The law requires a cooling-off period of at least 15 days between receiving the quote and the procedure (article L.6322-2 of the French Public Health Code). The quote comes with the SOFCPRE (French Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery) information sheet and the informed consent form.
7. How do you compare two quotes?
Prices can only be compared for the same service. When you look at a quote, check:
- that the surgeon is qualified in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery (directory of the Ordre des médecins, the French Medical Council);
- that the quote includes the implants, the anaesthesia and the clinic costs, and not only the surgeon’s fees;
- the brand and model of the implants, and that you will be given the implant card that ensures their traceability;
- that the procedure takes place in a facility authorised for cosmetic surgery;
- what is planned for follow-up and in case of revision surgery.

8. What about breast augmentation abroad?
A lower price advertised abroad often includes neither the follow-up, nor the treatment of a complication, nor any revision surgery. These costs are yours to pay once you are back, and the surgeon who operated on you is not nearby. Before you go, ask for the implant brand, the implant card and the operation report.
9. Payment
Payment can be made by cheque, bank transfer, bank card or cryptocurrency (bitcoin and ethereum). Payment in instalments is possible.

Frequently asked questions
How much does breast augmentation cost in Cannes?
€5,000 to €10,000 at Dr Médard de Chardon’s practice, including implants, anaesthesia and clinic. The exact amount is set on a written quote after a consultation costing €100.
Does the price include the implants?
Yes. The range of €5,000 to €10,000 includes the implants, the surgeon’s and anaesthetist’s fees and the costs of the Clinique Oxford in Cannes.
Why the range between €5,000 and €10,000?
The price depends on the technique (implants, fat transfer or both), additional procedures (breast lift, correction of an asymmetry), the implant brand, the incision site, and the length of the procedure and hospital stay. The amount is set after the examination at the consultation.
Is breast augmentation reimbursed?
No, cosmetic augmentation is not reimbursed, even after pregnancy. A malformation (tuberous breasts, Poland syndrome) may be covered with prior approval; additional fees then remain to be paid.
Does fat transfer cost less than implants?
The range is the same: €5,000 to €10,000. Fat transfer does, however, avoid the cost of a future implant replacement; the volume gained is about one cup size per session, and a second session costs €2,500 to €5,000.
Should you plan to replace your implants?
Not on a fixed date: an implant lasts 12 to 15 years on average and is replaced for a reason (rupture, capsular contracture, a different size). A replacement costs €3,000 to €10,000.
Is a revision charged?
A revision, to correct an asymmetry or change size shortly after the procedure, costs about €500, excluding the cost of the implants.
Is there a fee for the consultation?
A cosmetic surgery consultation costs €100; it is free for a patient already followed at the practice.
Can you pay in instalments?
Yes. Payment can be made by cheque, bank transfer, bank card or cryptocurrency, in one or several instalments.
